Old Armenian
Etymology
An Iranian borrowing, ultimately from Proto-Iranian *daiH- (“to look, see”), whence Persian دیدن (didan).[1][2] Compare Georgian დეტი (deṭi, “outsentry, picket”) from the same source. The sense "mark, target" is a semantic loan from Ancient Greek σκοπός (skopós).[3]
