Zheng Xuan comments that "là is a designation for the sacrifice made of animals which have been caught in a hunt liè (ljap)" (cited in Bodde, 1975 & Schuessler, 2007 ), thus considering 臘 (OC *raːb ) & 獵 (OC *rab ) cognates.
