عَرَفَ • (ʕarafa) I (non-past يَعْرِفُ (yaʕrifu), verbal noun مَعْرِفَة (maʕrifa) or عِرْفَان (ʕirfān)) (transitive)

1. to be familiar with (a person, a place, a piece of news or information, and so on); to know

   Synonym: خَبُرَ (ḵabura)
