Causative transative form of گذشتن (gozaštan, “to pass”).^[1]

گُذاشتَن • (gozâštan) (present stem گُذار (gozâr) or ذار (zâr)) (transitive)

1. to let, to permit, to allow (takes the subjunctive)

   Synonym: اجازه دادن (ejâze dâdan)

   معلم گذاشت که من به رستوران بروم. (more literary)

   mo'allem gozâšt ke man be restorân beravam.

   The teacher let me go to the restaurant.

   معلم گذاشت من برم رستوران. (more colloquial)

   mo'allem gozâšt man beram restorân.

   The teacher let me go to the restaurant.

   Synonyms: قرار دادن (qarâr dâdan), نهادن (nehâdan)

   بر سر گذاشتن ― bar sar gozâštan ― to put on the head

   روی هم گذاشتن ― ru-ye ham gozâštan ― to put on top of each other

   آن را بگذارید روی ترازو. (more literary)

   ân râ begozârid ru-ye tarâzu.

   Please put it on the scales.

   بذارینش روی ترازو. (more colloquial)

   bezârineš ru-ye tarâzu.

   Please put it on the scales.
