ܥܒܪ

From Aramaic עֲבַר (ʿăḇar), in most dialects historically displacing ܥܵܐܹܠ (ˁāˀēl). The sense of “to enter” is possibly through a semantic loan from Akkadian 𒆭 (erēbum); compare Hebrew עָבַר (avár), Arabic عَبَرَ (ʕabara).
