ขุนนาง

Believed to be from (1) ขุน (kǔn, “lord”) +‎ นาง (naang, “lady”), literally “lord of ladies”, according to Dan Beach Bradley and Luang Wichitwathakan who explained that the term refers to a man in authority who owns a harem of women,^[1] or (2) ขุน (kǔn, “lord”) +‎ นาง (naang, “lady”), literally “lord and lady”, according to Damrong Rajanubhab who explained that the term refers to the embodiment of a man in authority and his wife.^[1]

     The magistrate at the town of Chiang Mai must send a copy of such written agreement on timber purchase unto the English official who is based on the Yongsalin border.
