   1. formally known as ลูกขุน ณ ศาลา (lûuk-kǔn-ná-sǎa-laa): body of high-ranking public officers responsible for running the administration of the state and offering advice to the sovereign, roughly equivalent to a modern-day cabinet; member of such body, such as minister.
   2. formally known as ลูกขุน ณ ศาลหลวง (lûuk-kǔn-ná-sǎan-lǔuang): body of judicial officers responsible for deciding questions of law in legal cases, as distinguished from ตระลาการ (dtrà-laa-gaan), whose responsibility is to decide questions of fact; member of such body.
   3. (ศาลา~) place of meeting of this administrative or judicial body.
