From Khmer បក្សា (bɑksaa, “bird (especially male one)”), a modified form of Sanskrit पक्षि (pakṣi, “bird”, literally “one who has wings; winged one”), from which Thai ปักษี (bpàk-sǐi) was derived.

ปักษา • (bpàk-sǎa)

     I shall let you have the sceptre and continue our line of universal rulers and protectors. You shall maintain yourself in the Tenfold Virtue, behaving like a balance that supports all the Three Worlds. You shall always maintain your officers, either civil and military, like a large tree that expands its shade over everyone. You shall take honesty as your guiding principle. You shall be like a tap root, a branch, a stalk, a flower, or a leaf under which all creatures, whether two-footed or four-footed, may come and rest. Let your kindness spread like the flagrance of a flower that goes through every region and pleases every living being in all directions. Donations are on a par with immensely productive seeds: sow them over all your civil and military servants, as well as your people and mendicants, without exception. Avoid greed, uphold grace, like the Five Great Rivers which endlessly flow in and give pleasure in drinking and bathing. Never shall you oppress your people or subject them unto trouble or suffering. You shall be like a cool body of water where fish may dwell, a dense collection of trees where birds may reside, and a vast forest where deer may live in. Let your authority and dignity be evident to all men, gods, demigods, and demons across the Three Realms. My dearest son, listen well to these instructions of mine.
