These three could be part of a feature on words that are better known in embellished forms (inflected, prefixed, suffixed, etc.), or as part of set phrases where the original meaning may not be obvious to modern speakers. Mihia (talk) 01:09, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
OK, set for the April Fool's Day period in 2019. — SGconlaw (talk) 18:44, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
@Sgconlaw: Thanks, I thought of another one in similar style if there is room: tenterhook. Mihia (talk) 14:47, 7 January 2019 (UTC)
@Mihia: alas, there isn't. If you like, please nominate it for featuring on another date on the nomination page. — SGconlaw (talk) 15:16, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

There's no rule saying you can't, but it's a little unethical. DonnanZ (talk) 17:04, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
  • Never heard of this being a point of contention, nor does it make sense in my mind for it to be considered 'unethical' (lol): (F)WOTD nominations aren't a popularity contest, it's just about submitting interesting words you found AFAIK. — Mnemosientje (t · c) 22:11, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
When you google phrases like "men are men" or "dogs are dogs" you also get hits. And then you have "Man is Man" and such. What makes a phrase of the type "A is A" worthy of inclusion?  --Lambiam 20:42, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
I think that’s a separate point from the foregoing. Obviously entries that have been challenged at RFD, RFV or elsewhere should not be nominated here, and won’t be featured until the matter is resolved. — SGconlaw (talk) 01:15, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
It's now in RFD, no idea who did it, nominated by Lambiam. DonnanZ (talk) 17:22, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
Entry has been moved to "Appendix:Snowclones/X are X". — SGconlaw (talk) 19:25, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

There's a problem here as the American spelling takes precedence over the British spelling mind-boggling. DonnanZ (talk) 13:59, 21 April 2018 (UTC)
