妄稱

1. to make an improper claim; to be so presumptuous as to claim or call oneself as

     Wǒmen rúguǒ jǐnjǐn dú le tāmen de zhùzuò, dànshì méiyǒu jìnyībù de gēnjù tāmen de lǐlùn lái yánjiū Zhōngguó de lìshǐ shíjì hé gémìng shíjì, méiyǒu qǐtú zài lǐlùn shàng lái sīkǎo Zhōngguó de gémìng shíjiàn, wǒmen jiù bùnéng wàngchēng wéi Mǎkèsī zhǔyì de lǐlùnjiā.

     If we merely read their works but do not proceed to study the realities of China's history and revolution in the light of their theory or do not make any effort to think through China's revolutionary practice carefully in terms of theory, we should not be so presumptuous as to call ourselves Marxist theorists.
