     Nánfāng yǒu niǎo, qí míng wéi yuānchú, zǐ zhī zhī hū? Fú yuānchú fā yú Nánhǎi ér fēi yú Běihǎi, fēi wútóng bùzhǐ, fēi liànshí bùshí, fēi lǐquán bùyǐn.

     There is in the south a bird, called Yuanchu — do you know it? Starting from the South Sea, it flies to the Northern; never resting but on the wutong, never eating but the fruit of the lian tree, and never drinking but from the purest springs.
