Purpose

This project page coordinates efforts to improve entries for common verbs in Romance languages.

The idea is to select one row at a time from the following lists for cleanup, correcting and expanding not only the Latin verb entry but also all its descendants. This includes expanding the Latin Descendants section, as well as adding / correcting the etymology section of each descendant.

Entries should be cleaned up, but also expanded beyond the minimum entry length. Ideally, an entry will have many new sections added, including Pronunciation, Example sentences, Usage notes, Quotations, Synonyms, Related terms, etc. to whatever degree the participants are capable of contributing.

Current, past, and upcoming cleanup selections

About the lists: The first list comes from the "top 40" Latin verbs, as selected by authors Gavin Betts and Daniel Franklin, based on "their high frequency and extensive range of meanings". The second list includes the 36 most common Spanish verbs in a large sample of on-line text.

Participants

The list below serves to identify areas of specialty. Anyone knowledgeable in a Romance language is welcome to participate and to add his or her name to the list. However, a listing here is not required to help!
